hearts, with love.

I've had a lazy day today, hubby went out at silly o'clock this morning in the search for bird photo's. Its freezing out there so rather him than me!
so I amused myself with my paper again and made a card for the challenge over at sassy's cheryls.

the theme is hearts which is easy for me coz I loooove hearts!
this is what I came up with....

how cute is he!
I love Cheryl's images, they are all soooo cute. I've got my eye on a couple more so watch this space.

I used kraft paper for the backing.
dies are spellbinders fanciful lattice and labels 18

I used two different impression obsessions dies for the hearts and added some ribbon and gems.

I used derwent coloursoft pencils for the image but I seriously need to practice with them.
to be honest they didn't work too well of the rymans smooth card so I need to find something else. anyone know the best paper for these pencils?
I do like these pencils but I haven't got it right yet and I'm blaming the paper and the fact that I need a blending pencil. it cant be my fault!
what is it they say, a bad workmen always blames his tools!
LOL
hmmm they also say if at first you don't succeed, try try try again.....
so I'm off to practice so more.

I'm entering this card in the sassy Cheryl challenge.

all dies can be found on the oysterstamps website along with loads of lovely new ones. please have a look. omg the new spellbinders dies look amazing!

thanks for stopping by and for any comments you may wish to leave,

  1. I think you did a great coloring job. When I use pencils I blend with a paper stump and Gamasol (odder less mineral spirits). I use my normal paper. Judy and Cheryl use pencils all the time so they can give you some tips. Thanks for joining us at Sassy Cheryl's this week.

  2. Hi Suzanne, I think your coloring is great. I know what you mean about the paper... any paper you use for pencil coloring should have some tooth to it.. if it is coated or shiny, the pencil won't blend! Believe it or not, the Georgia Pacific paper from Walmart does work. It's not your coloring :) it's the right paper for sure! So just experiment with several brands.
Love your design and sweet hearts!
thanks for playing along in our Sassy Cheryl challenge this week!
